9/14/08: Kentuckiana experiences what's left of Hurricane Ike.

Took a bunch of photos on my street on Sunday after the hurricane level winds died down. Our power was out all Sunday and well into today. Over 400,000 people were without power. Pretty nuts considering where we live… after dealing with a small bit of Ike, I can’t believe people in Texas didn’t want to evacuate.

The proposal story.

I was completely surprised! I mean, I had no idea he had the money for a ring, so I wasn’t expecting it anytime soon. Yesterday was the 8th, making it 5 years and 6 months since we’d started dating. I knew Ben wanted to take me out to eat, but I didn’t suspect anything because it’s common for us to go do something on the 8th.

We went to Steak & Shake, which is where we ate on our first date and we also sat in the same booth. We chatted it up and then when our waitress brought out our milkshakes she also handed me a rose from Ben. I was already surprised at this point, but then he started to get down on one knee. I was completely shocked and all I could do was put my hand over my mouth and cry. He asked me (very nervously, I think both of our hands were shaking!) if I would marry him and I said, “Yes, of course.” I was so stunned, that he had to say to me, “Well, put the ring on then!” I laughed and put the ring on and I hugged and kissed him. Everyone in the restaurant clapped of course, and I looked behind me and all of the waitresses had gathered to watch and were crying and I thought it was cute. Ben had arrived about two to three hours earlier to set everything up, so they had known it was about to happen. Also, some gentleman anonymously paid for our milkshakes after he saw the proposal and I thought that was pretty sweet.

Day 5 after septoplasty/turbinate reduction

Feeling sooooo much better after visiting the ENT. He took out the rest of the packing and cleared out my nose. Still have a slight cough, but hoping that will go away after today. I don’t have to stuff cotton balls up my nostrils anymore! I can actually BREATHE!

Good news:

My new roommate plays World of Warcraft!

The only question remaining: Does she play Horde or Alliance?

I’m not afraid to admit it: I love when there’s a Degrassi marathon on the N.

Just wanted to say hi!

An animated greeting from an email my Granddad sent me during the school year. He is having surgery on Thursday which will hopefully get rid of his colon cancer. I’ve been thinking about him a lot lately.

OSU Sophomores Given World's Hardest Chemistry Make-Up Test

boutofcontext:

[via my blogless friend John]: At Ohio State University, there were four sophomores taking chemistry and all of them had an “A” so far. These four friends were so confident that, the weekend before finals, they decided to visit some friends and have a big party. They had a great time but, after all the hearty partying, they slept all day Sunday and didn’t make it back to Columbus until early Monday morning.

Rather than taking the final then, they decided that after the final they would explain to their professor why they missed it. They said that they visited friends but on the way back they had a flat tire. As a result, they missed the final. The professor agreed they could make up the final the next day. The guys were excited and relieved. They studied that night for the exam.

The next day the Professor placed them in separate rooms and gave them a test booklet. They quickly answered the first problem worth 5 points.. Cool, they thought! Each one in separate rooms, thinking this was going to be easy… then they turned the page. On the second page was written…

For 95 points: Which tire? _________

True or not, that is hilarious.

I normally stay pretty healthy. I’ve hugged and kissed Ben when he was so sick he was practically on his deathbed and I never caught anything. I’m really good about washing and sanitizing my hands. However, I’ve caught a nasty cold and now pinkeye within the very first week of working with children. Apparently, they’re like kryptonite to my immune system.

I’ve been sick all weekend, but I felt surprisingly better as soon as I was around Ben today. Coincidence? I think not.

Finals week is definitely here. I remember this feeling.

It’s 7 am and I’ve had 3 hours of sleep that I probably shouldn’t have had but had anyway in order to get this paper written coherently. This assignment is so stupid but then again this entire class was stupid and just a rehash of several psychology courses I’ve already taken. The paper is due sometime between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm so I’ve got time to finish it. The problem is not time; it’s motivation. All I want to do is curl up in bed or better yet go home because summer is staring me right in the face. I mean seriously, how am I supposed to buckle down and concentrate when good times are ahead? I’m so over and done with this semester already.
